Long-time Bivium Group client, with numerous engineering placements over the past 3 years. Partnered closely with the Vice President of Software (hiring manager) and have known for several years. This is a small “insulated” software product division (via acquisition a few years ago) of a much larger global Financial Services Software Company. This software product division is a major “strategic asset” to the parent company and will continue to innovate. The core product is a high-performance, highly scalable enterprise class application developed in Java and used on Windows operating systems with MySQL and several other real-time data feeds that are tied into the product.
This team has not had any layoffs and has only lost a few engineers over the years due to national attrition. They are now back in *growth mode* not replacement mode. Engineering team is about 20 in total, with about 10-12 in Boston. Budget for multiple software engineering hires for Boston.
Target profile is 0-5 years of experience, but will seriously consider highly skilled senior software engineers as well.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or closely related field is a must. Candidates will be technically vetted on Java and overall Computer Science knowledge.
- 0 to 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong Java, whether academically or professionally, is a must. Experience with at least one other programming language, any language, is also a must.
- Knowledge of, or any experience with functional programming languages (Erlang, OCaml, Haskell, Scheme etc.) is a plus.
Compensation: competitive base salary + bonus and excellent benefits.
